Suspect Nymir Lee Arrested for Robbery in the 17th District

The Philadelphia Police Department would like to thank the media and the public for identifying and locating the suspect who robbed the One Stop Market in Point Breeze.

On June 6, 2014, at 10:50 am, the suspect, an unknown black male wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with the hood up, entered the One Stop Market located on the 1500 block of Morris Street armed with a handgun. Once inside the suspect pointed the handgun at the employee, who was standing behind the counter, demanding money. After taking an undetermined amount of money the suspect fled and was last seen south on 16th Street.

On June 12, 2014, South Detective Division received an anonymous phone tip identifying Nymir Lee as the suspect and is known to frequent the area of 20th and Mifflin Streets.

On June 13, 2014, an arrest warrant was obtained after two veteran Police Offices identified Lee as the robbery suspect from the 1500 block of Norris Street and was arrested on June 17, 2014 without further incident.

Nymir Lee is 19 years-of-age and is from the 1800 block of South 20th Street. Lee is charged with robbery and related offenses.


Suspects Vincent Jackson (left) and Adonis Fountain (right) Arrested for a Shooting in the 2nd District

On March 31, 2014, at 12:28am, 2nd District officers responded to a radio call for a shooting inside the Roosevelt Motor Inn located at 7600 Roosevelt Boulevard. When police arrived an employee stated he heard gunshots coming from a hallway. Soon after the gunshots an unknown black male ran past the front desk armed with a handgun and fled through the parking lot then south on the Roosevelt Boulevard. Surveillance video recovered depicts a group of black male running through the hallways shooting at each other. No complainant’s were found and no one was found injured.

Based on a joint investigation between City Wide Vise and Northeast Detective Division an anonymous witness was developed. It was later found that Jackson was operating a prostitution operation and was currently inside the Roosevelt Motor Inn when Adonis Fountain, who Jackson had a prior dispute with, entered the Inn. After receiving a phone call informing Jackson that Fountain was inside the building, Jackson engaged Fountain when the shoot-out began.

After an arrest warrant was obtained, both Jackson and Fountain were arrested on June 19, 2014.

Adonis Fountain (right) is 19 years-of-age and is from the 6300 block of Carnation Street. Fountain is charged with aggravated assault and related offenses.

Suspect Milton Garcia Arrested for Robbery/Sexual Assault in the 9th District

The Philadelphia Police Department has arrested suspect Milton Garcia for a robbery/aggravated assault in the Rittenhouse section of the city.

On Saturday, June 21, 2014, at 1:20 am, the complainant, a 26 year-old female, was walking to her residence on the 1900 block of Spruce Street after having left the “Ladder 15″ tavern at 15th & Sansom Streets. As she approached her residence, an unknown male approached her from behind, grabbed her by the neck forcing her to open the entrance door. Once inside he forced her to her upstairs apartment where he sexually assaulted her, and taking her iPhone, keys then fleeing only to reenter the building minutes later.

On June 21, 2014, after releasing surveillance video to the public, the iPhone that was taken during this incident tracked it’s location in close proximity to the 1800 block of South 8th Street. After investigation of this location Milton Garcia was then identified as the suspect in this crime and was arrest on June 24, 2014.

Milton Garcia is 27 years-of-age and is from the 1800 block of South 8th Street. Garcia is charged with rape, aggravated assault, robbery and related offenses.

Incident #1:

Central Detectives Division asking for the public’s help locating Jeffery Chandler for a robbery in West Poplar.

On June 11, 2014, at 6:40 pm, the victim, a 68 year-old-male, was getting into his car outside of Yury’s Gun Range located at 544 North Percy Street when the two suspects exited their parked car, a late model dark colored coupe (2-door), possibly a Honda Accord, and approached him. Suspect #2, pointed a handgun at the victim’s face taking his backpack which contained two 22 caliber handguns while suspect #1 removed items from the victim’s pockets. Both suspects then fled in their vehicle and were last seen north on Percy Street then west on Green Street.

 

Incident #2:

Northeast Detective Division is looking to identify and locate the suspects for a robbery in Bustleton.

On June 12, 2014, at 8:30 pm, the complainant, a 67 year-old-male, and witness, a 68 year-old-male, were inside the Delaware Valley Sports Center Gun Shop/Shooting Range located at 101 Geiger Road. When the complainant and witness left the range they walked to the complainant’s vehicle in the parking lot which was parked next to a black sedan (possibly a Honda or Hyundai) with dark-tinted windows. When the Witness placed a duffel bag containing seven (7) handguns into the bed of the pickup truck and opened the passenger side door he was immediately approached from behind by an unknown Hispanic Female pointing a handgun at his face demanding money and his cell phone. The witness then saw an unknown male run toward the complainant who was on the driver side of his vehicle when he heard a gunshot and saw the complainant fall to the ground suffering from a gunshot wound to the right upper leg that appeared to have struck the femoral artery and was bleeding profusely. Both male and female suspects then ran to the parked black sedan with tinted windows and fled the parking lot at a high rate of speed taking a duffel bag containing the seven (7) handguns. The Complainant was transported to Aria-Torresdale Trauma Center where he was taken to surgery and listed in critical but stable condition.

 

On June 13, 2014, detectives received information that the female suspect depicted in the surveillance video was identified as Samiyyah Poteat and wanted to turn herself in. Poteat and was arrested on June 13, 2014 without further incident.

Samiyyah Poteat is 21 years-of-age and is from the 4600 block of Walnut Street. Poteat is charged with robbery, aggravated assault and related offenses.

 

On June 24, 2014, at 1:00 pm, the FBI Fugitive Task force developed information that Jeffery Chandler was inside the Threadleaf Terrace in Burlington New Jersey. Task Force members along with Burlington Township Police Department executed an arrest warrant and Chandler was arrested without incident.

Jeffery Chandler is 27 years-of-age and is from the 4900 block of Walnut Street. Chandler is charged with robbery, aggravated assault and related offenses.

Suspect Daniel Connelly Arrested for Multiple Bank Robberies in the 8th and 15th Districts

The Major Crimes/FBI Violent Crimes Task Force reports the arrest of Daniel Connelly.

On June 24, 2014, at 4:45 pm, the Wells Fargo Bank located at 9101 Roosevelt Boulevard was robbed by a white male using a threatening demand note taking an undetermined amount of money along with a tracking device.

2nd District Officers assigned to the Burglary Detail responded to the robbery. They received information via Police Radio that the tracking device was traveling south on the Roosevelt Boulevard. The tracking information led the officers to Shelmire Street where they observed a SEPTA bus traveling south on the Roosevelt Boulevard. After the officers stopped the bus at Cottman Avenue for investigation, they observed a male who matched the description sitting in a seat who was later identified as the suspect and was arrested without incident.

Connelly is 28 years-of-age and is from the 500 block of Worth Street. Connelly is charged with multiple robberies and related offenses.

Suspect Richard Bynum Arrested for Multiple Robberies in the 2nd, 7th, 14th and 35th Districts

The Philadelphia Police Department has arrested suspect Richard Bynum who has been identified as the suspect for multiple robberies in East Oak Lane, Olney, East Mount Airy, Cedarbrook, Rhawnhurst, Lawndale and Oxford Circle.

Incident #1:

On March 5, 2014, at 1:06am, an unknown male entered a 7-11 located at 6771 North 5th Street armed with a handgun. After a short time inside the store the suspect approach the counter pointing the handgun at an employee who was behind the counter demanding money from the cash register. After the employee placed $1000 in cash inside a 7-11 bag the suspect fled the store on foot and was last seen south on 5th Street.

Incident #2:

On March 7, 2014, at 3:35pm, the same suspect entered CVS located at 1600 Wadsworth Avenue, made a purchase then place his hand inside his pocket simulating he had a weapon stating “I will shoot the employee and blow the place up” if the cash register was not opened. When the employee began dialing 911 the suspect fled the store on foot without taking any money.

Incident #3:

On March 7, 2014, at 4:55pm, an employee, a 21 year-old female, of Anna’s Linen located at 101 East Olney Avenue was inside the store when an unknown male entered. After a short time inside the store the suspect asked the employee for assistance then stated he had a gun reaching for his waistband stating he will “shoot the place up” unless both cash registers were emptied. The employee complied placing an approximately $1500 in cash into a plastic store bag. After taking the money the suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction.

 

On June 17, 2014, at 11:55 am, Bynum entered a CVS located at 6344 Stenton Avenue committing a robbery. Bynum showed the store manager a handgun demanding money. After the manager placed an undetermined amount of cash into a backpack along with a GPS tracking device he fled in an unknown direction. The GPS device led police to the 2400 block of 78th Street where a Chevy Impala was parked and a black handgun along with clothing worn by Bynum was recovered. Bynum was arrested a short time later on June 17, 2014 with incident.

Richard Bynum (AKA Richard Lawerence) was arrested on June 17, 2014, at 1:20 pm, Bynum is 48 years-of-age and is from the 2300 block of 79th Street. Bynum is charged with multiple counts of robbery and related offenses.

Suspect Duane Gordon Arrested for Burglary in the 18th District

The Philadelphia Police Department would like to extent its gratitude to the media and the public for their help in apprehending suspect Duane Gordon for a burglary in Southwest Cedar Park.

On Friday, May 16, 2014, at 12:30 pm, an unknown male was captured inside the University Court Apartments located at 4618 Chester Avenue walking through the hallway checking apartment doors. The suspect was able to gain entry into one apartment taking a Panasonic flat screen television. The suspect was then captured on surveillance video leaving the building with the television and fled in an unknown direction.

Two Officers assigned to the 16th District viewed the surveillance video and identified Gordon as the suspect in the video. On June 18, 2014, Southwest Detectives executed a search warrant inside Gordons residence on the 100 block of South 58th Street where a jacket worn by Gordon during the burglary was recovered. After further investigating this burglary Gordon was arrested on July 1, 2014.

Duane Gordon is 59 years-of-age and is from the 100 block of South 58th Street. Gordon is charged with burglary and related offenses.

Wanted: Suspect for Robbery in the 26th District [VIDEO]

East Detective Division is looking to identify and locate the suspect wanted for a robbery in Fishtown.

On Monday, June 30, 2014, at 10:54 am, the complainant, a 91 year-old male, was walking home from the Wells Fargo Bank located at Frankford and Girard Avenue. When the complainant approached Frankford Avenue and Wildey Street an unknown black male approached him from behind, grabbed his arms and went through his pockets taking his money. During the robbery the complainant was thrown to the ground injuring both arms. After taking the complainant’s money the suspect fled and was last seen north on Dunton Street from Wildey Street. The complainant was transported to Hahnemann Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

Suspect Michael Carpino Arrested for Commercial Burglary in the 15th District

The Philadelphia Police Department would like to thank the media for helping us arrest suspect Michael Carpino for a Commercial Burglary in Holmesburg.

On Monday July 7, 2014, at 2:02 am, 15th District officers responded to a burglary alarm at Flukes Irish Pub, located at 7401 State Road. When police arrived were met by the owner who stated the business was closed and secured at 2:00 am and was notified by his alarm company at approximately 2:02 am that the alarm had been tripped. Surveillance video depicted an unknown male approaching the front door and looking through the glass. The suspect then gains entry by forcing the door open with what appears to be a dark colored crow bar. Once inside the suspect uses the same crow bar to force open two empty cash registers before leaving in an unknown direction. Nothing was taken during this burglary.

On July 7, 2014, a Highway Patrol Officer immediately recognized the suspect committing the Burglary as Michael Carpino and his white Ford pick-up truck from the the video surveillance footage on the Police YouTube link on FaceBook of the Burglary which occurred inside Fluke’s Irish Pub located at 7401 State Road. On July 9, 2014, two Highway patrol officers went to the area of 7100 Edmund Street in search of Michael Carpino when they observed him driving his pick-up truck. Carpino was then arrested without incident.

Michael Carpino is 55 years-of-age and is from the 7100 block of Edmund Street. Carpino is charged with burglary and related offenses.

Suspect Domenick Washington Arrested for Shooting/Aggravated Assault in the 25th District

The Philadelphia police Department would like to thank the media and the public for their assistance in the apprehension of suspect Domenick Washington for a shooting in Fairhill.

On Monday, June 9, 2014, at 5:59 am, the 25th District responded to a radio call outside of 3336 North Reese Street gunshots in the area. When police arrived he observed a parked vehicle and the complainant leaning in the passenger front seat area suffering from gunshot wounds to each leg. Surveillance video recovered depicts two unknown males armed with a handgun approaching his vehicle firing at the complainant and striking him two times in his legs. The complainant was transported to Temple Hospital where he was listed in stable condition.

On June 20, 2014, surveillance video was submitted to local new stations and uploaded on YouTube. A short time later on June 16, 2014, 25th District police ped stopped Domenick Washington on the 3300 block of North 5th Street who fit the description from the surveillance video.

After further investigating the robbery on July 9, 2014, a search warrant was obtained and executed for a property on the 3300 block of North 5th Street along with SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) unit. During the search Domenick Washington was inside the property and was arrested without incident.

Domenick Washington is 28 years-of-age and is from the 3300 block of North 5th Street. Washington is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and related offenses.

Suspect William Robinson Arrested for Robbery in the 26th District

On June 26, 2014, at 1:22 am, the Complainant/employee of 7-Eleven located at 23 West Girard Avenue was inside working when an unknown black male entered the store. While inside the store the suspect waited until all patrons left then pulled a handgun demanding money from the cash register. After taking an undetermined amount of money the suspect fled in an unknown direction. There were no injuries to store employees.

On June 26, 2014, at 9:42pm, suspect William Robinson was arrested for a robbery of a Pizza Hut located at 2715 South Front Street and was later identified as the suspect in a robbery of a 7-Eleven located at 23 West Girard Avenue on June 26, 2014.

William Robinson is 35 years-of-age and is from the 2000 block of East Lehigh Avenue. Robinson is charged with robbery and related offenses.

Suspect Marc J.Beaver Arrested for Multiple Robberies in the 8th District

The Philadelphia Police Department has arrested suspect Marc J. Beaver for two robberies that occurred in Morrell Park and Franklin Mills.

On Monday July 14, 2014, at 12:30 am, an unknown white male entered WaWa located at 10550 Knights Road, went to the counter with a candy bar and handed the cashier a $1 bill. When the employee opened the register the suspect pulled a knife forcing the employee back away from the register, and reaching into the drawer taking an undetermined amount of money the suspect fled the store on foot in an unknown direction.

On Monday July 14, 2014, at 6:35 pm, an unknown male entered a Luke Oil Station located at 220 Franklin Mills Circle attempting to purchase a cigarette lighter using a debit card when he pulled a knife demanding money. After refusing his demands, the employee chased the suspect from the station leaving his debit card behind. After detectives investigated this robbery and the debit card with the name Marc J. Beaver, the suspect was identified.

On July 15, 2014, at 3:45 pm, suspect Marc J. Beaver was placed into custody on the 3900 block of Rowena Drive in Morrell Park.

Marc J. Beaver is 40 years-of-age and is from the 3900 block of Rowena Drive. Beaver is charged with two robberies and related offenses.

Suspects Charles Wardlaw (left) and Robert Hartley (right) Arrested for Robbery/Shooting in the 22nd District

On July 10, 2014, at 10:42 am, 22nd District Officers responded to a radio call for a report of a shooting at 2345 Ridge Avenue. When police arrived they found the complainant, a 41 year-old male, who was suffering from a single gunshot wound to his right hand. As the complainant was making a delivery to the Wellness Pharmacy located at 2337 Ridge Avenue he was approached by two unknown black males when suspect #1 pulled a handgun pointing it at the complainant demanding his car keys. When the complainant told the suspect the keys were in the vehicle’s ignition suspect, #2 entered the driver seat of the vehicle in an attempt to take the vehicle. After the complainant pushed suspect #1 to the ground, he fired one shot striking the complainant in his right hand. Both suspects then fled and were last seen west on Ridge Avenue without taking anything from the complainant. The complainant was transported to Hahnemann Hospital where he was listed in stable condition.

Members of Central Detective Division Special Investigations Unit were able to locate surveillance video of the robbery that depicted two vehicles, a gold Ford Taurus and a silver Ford Windstar, following the complainant along his route. Through investigation, it was determined that the Ford Taurus was assigned PA tag XXX-XXXX. This information was provided to officers in the 14th District. On July 17, 2014, the vehicle was stopped by police and suspect Charles Wardlaw was taken into custody.

Members of Central Detective Division Special Investigations Unit then developed suspect Robert Hartley and was immediately identified as one of the males that shot the complainant during this robbery.

On July 18, 2014, members of Central Detective Division Special Investigations Unit and SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) served search warrant on the 1300 block of West Seltzer Street where Robert Hartley was arrested inside this residence without incident. During his arrest the silver Ford Windstar that was used in this robbery was also recovered.

Charles Wardlaw (left) is 43 years-of-age and is from the 8400 block of Provident Road. Wardlaw is charged with robbery, Aggravated Assault, and related offenses.

Robert Hartley (right) is 42 years-of-age and is from the 1300 block of West Seltzer Street. Hartley is charged with robbery, Aggravated Assault, and related offenses.

Suspects Louis Hill (left) and Kharyee Smith (right) Arrested for Robbery in the 1st District

On June 7, 2014, at 1:10 am, the complainant, a 19 year-old male, was walking on the 1700 block of Mifflin Street when he noticed three unknown males following him. In an attempt to flee from the males, the complainant went inside a bar located at Hicks & Mifflin Streets. When the complainant continued walking east on Mifflin Street at 15th Street he heard footsteps then felt a gun pressed against his back. When he turned to face them, two of the three suspects demanded he “give it up”. After the complainant gave the suspects a Samsung Galaxy 5 cell phone, headphones, Michael Kors gold watch and a Louis Vuitton belt, they fled and were last seen running north on South 15th Street.

On June 24, 2014, two officers who viewed the video shortly after being released to the media were able to identify the suspects as Louis Hill (left) and Kharyee Smith (right) who robbed the complainant on June 7, 2014.

Louis Hill (left) is 21 years-of-age and is from the 1700 block of South 23rd Street and was arrested on July 10, 2014. Hill is charged with robbery and related offenses.

Kharyee Smith (right) is 22 years-of-age and is from the 1600 block of South 54th Street and was arrested on July 15, 2014. Smith is charged with robbery and related offenses.

Suspect Wayne Whitley Arrested for Theft in the 1st District

The Philadelphia Police Department would like to thank the media and the public for its help in identifying and locating the suspect wanted for a theft in Point Breeze.

On July 9, 2014, at 11:30 am, an Officer was on the 1800 block of South Broad Street performing a security check and left his Trek Police Bike outside the property. When the officer returned the bike, helmet and saddle bag were gone. At 12:15 pm, the bicycle was located at 1300 Girard Avenue unattended and the helmet, saddle bag and all contents were recovered. Surveillance video was recovered from the area and depicts the suspect pushing the bicycle from the area.

On July 30, 2014, an anonymous caller contacted police after watching the surveillance video posted on YouTube identifying the suspect as Wayne Whitley. Whitley was later arrested on July 30, 2014, at 12:05 am, on the 1700 block of North 28th Street without incident.

Wayne Whitley is 36 years-of-age and is from the 1600 block of North 26th Street. Whitley is charged with theft and related offenses.


Traffic Advisory: Night Market-Lancaster Avenue

On Thursday, August 14, 2014, the Night Market will take place along the 3500-3900 Blocks of Lancaster Avenue.  Beginning at 3:00 PM, Lancaster Avenue will be closed between 35th and 39th Streets.  At approximately 5:30 PM all the traffic northbound on 38th Street will be diverted west bound on Powelton and all eastbound traffic on Powelton will be diverted southbound on 38th Street.  The event will begin at 6:00 PM and conclude by 10:00 PM. There will be police assigned to this event but traffic in the area could be heavy at times.

Suspect Dawone Wright Arrested for Robbery in the 15th District

The Philadelphia Police Department would like to thank the media and the public for helping us identify and locate the suspect for a robbery in Frankford.

On Sunday, August 3, 2014, at 10:20 am, the complainant, a 64 year-old female, was withdrawing cash from an ATM at a Wells Fargo Bank located at 5119 Frankford Avenue when she was approached from behind by an unknown male. As the complainant was completing her withdraw the suspect snatched the cash from her hand and injuring the complainants shoulder as the suspect pulled the cash from her hand. After taking the money the suspect fled in an unknown direction. The complainant was transported to Aria Hospital, Frankford, where she was treated for her injuries.

On August 8, 2014, 12th district officers responded to a disturbance on the 6000 block of Reinhard Street. When police arrived then were informed by an anonymous person that suspect Dawone Wright, who was identified as the suspect for the robbery of a 64 year-old female who was withdrawing cash from an ATM at a Wells Fargo Bank located at 5119 Frankford Avenue was on location. When confronted, Dawone Wright told the officers that he wanted to turn himself in and was taken into custody without further incident.

Dawone Wright is 37 years-of-age and is from the 6000 block of Reinhard Street. Wright is charged with robbery and related offenses.

Suspect Arrested for Robbery in the 1st District

South Detective Division has arrested the suspect wanted for a robbery in Point Breeze.

On July 14, 2014, at 8:00 pm, an unknown male was capture on surveillance video stalking for victims in the area of 1800 South Broad Street. The suspect then follows the complainant, a 28 year-old female, while walking south on the 1800 block of Broad Street from Moore Street. Once on the 1400 block of Mifflin Street, the suspect approached the complainant taking her blue wallet containing $100, her PA State non-drivers ID, Citizen’s Bank card and a University of Penn student ID card at gunpoint. After taking the complainant’s items the suspect fled North on 1800 block of Carlisle Street.

While conducting an investigation, detectives reviewed the suspects FaceBook page and observed a picture of a juvenile wearing a t-shirt with a picture of Abraham Lincoln holding a “boom box” on the front of the shirt. This shirt appeared identical to the t-shirt worn by the suspect depicted in the surveillance video and resides in the area of the 1400 block of Mifflin Street where the robbery had taken place. Shortly after this identification was made a search warrant was served at the juveniles residence where he was arrest without incident.

The suspect, who is a juvenile, is 16 years-of-age and is charged with robbery and related offenses.

On Friday, August 29, 2014, the Police Department will hold a graduation ceremony for Police Academy Class #368.  The ceremony will begin at 10:00 AM at Temple University’s Performing Arts Center at 1837 N. Broad Street.  The area may experience intermittent closures and traffic may be heavy in the area.

The Philadelphia Police Department and the FBI are seeking the public’s assistance to identify and locate the subject responsible for a robbery at a Republic Bank in the city’s West Oak Lane section.

On August 23, 2014, at 11:00 am, an unknown male entered a Republic Bank located at 1601 Walnut Street and approached the teller verbally demanding money. After a taking an undetermined amount of money the suspect fled the bank on foot and was last seen west on Moravian Street. No injuries were reported.

  • Suspect Description: Black male, mid 20-30 years-of-age, heavy build, wearing dark jacket with a hood, white/gray camouflage pants, black shoes, black bag with green writing, and wearing an “old man” mask.
